Cable Modems
Cable modems are devices that establish the connection between the computers and the Internet. A cable similar to the one used for cable television is used to connect the modems. Cable modems transmissions through a cable television network are fast but could be expensive.
Although cable modems are quite efficient, there are issues that can be frustrating. Below are some cable modem problems that you have or might encounter.
- Connections of cable modems are disrupted.
If you experience disruptions while using the Internet, there might be some problems with your cable modems. Verify first if you're not experiencing a temporary suspension of Internet services. Check with your cable company's Internet service provider if there is a cable outage.
If you're unable to connect to the Internet or the connection is slow, there might be some conflicts between your computer hardware and your cable modems. If such thing occurs and you can't troubleshoot it yourself, a computer technician may help you solve the problem.
- Signal problems sometimes occur with cable modems.
Although cable modems are plugged in the same place with your television plug, they need a cleaner and clearer signal to work properly. If signal is a problem, there might be a faulty wiring. It's best to call your cable company to service your unit. - Flashing lights in cable modems.
A common features of cable modems are the series of lights on the front part of the unit. If the lights are turned on, it means that your cable modems are connected properly. However, if the light started to flash, it means that there may be a problem between your cable modems and your cable service provider. If such case happens, call your cable provider for assistance.
